Here I am… wrapped in a blanket, a cat on my lap, and the frozen day slipping by outside. I’m watching a movie called Somm, and there was something I heard just now that I wanted to share with you.

We’re all writers and readers with dreams. We all have heart and aspirations that get us through day-to-day life, and I just want you to know: whatever your dreams are, whatever hopes you have, its 100% possible… you just need to be devoted to it. And I just want you to know, we can do this together.
What kind of projects are you guys working on this year? It’s the beginning of the year- I feel like it’s been a really refreshing start, too. I mean, I’m not the kind of person that believes everything changes over the course of one calendar day, but I truly believe that, just like nature, we are a cyclical, seasonal type of people. It puts things into perspective when we have a “rebirth” of sorts and it helps us creatively.
Are any of you starting new books? I’m actually in the middle of a story… well, not even the middle. I’m about ¼ of the way through hand I’m already at 32,000 words…😬 I feel like I’m reaaaaaally pushing it with this word count, but I just keep reminding myself I’ll be able to cut some words later because I have edits to look forward to
The story is a high fantasy story, and I’m honestly loving it. It’s a Nordic, astronomical, alternate Earth-based story that is filled to the brim with dragons, strange new creatures, and blood magic. It’s a bit character-driven I’d say, and I tried a new outlining method that was seriously SO helpful. I’d love to share it with you guys at some point if you’re interested.
I’m also outlining a Create-Your-Own-Adventure App to go with it. It’ll involve dragons and an action-filled trek up a river into an unknown territory, and at the finale, the player is rewarded with a personalized, entertaining end that is based entirely on ALL their actions.
I want to start a new story soon, too, that’s based on our actual world but still threaded with magic and demons and romance and mystery. I’ve been really dying to read books like this recently, so I’d love to hear if you have any book recommendations that are like this!
So, those are the little updates I have on my WIPs right now. I’m moving steadily along and tend to document my writing on Twitter with the hashtag: #writingsprint. If you feel like hanging out and writing together, just follow me and we can chat about the scenes we write or ask each other for advice on how to fix a scene. Let’s go on with this together J Strength in numbers!
